A new fire was detected on eastern shore of Yellowstone Lake Monday prompting the closure of a nearby campsite.
The half-acre acre Brimstone Fire was likely caused by lightning and is burning in a spruce and fir forest. Fire staff will monitor the fire.
For safety reasons, the Brimstone Bay campsite 5E4 near the Thorofare Trail is closed until further notice, but the trail remains open.
Another fire was detected Aug. 21 near Wyodaho Lake.
