Reading Dogs

Aden Bellcock reads to Loki Friday, July 9 during a visit to the Belgrade Community Library by Reading Education Assistance Dogs, part of the library’s Our Community Reads program. The Friday morning program brings community leaders into the library to tell about their work and and read a story. The READ dogs and their owners have completed extensive training to be certified by the Intermountain Pet Therapy organization. The teams visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools and libraries. Val Bickwermert brings her dog, Zamba, to the library on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 11:15 a.m. Children are invited to share a book with Zamba.
