Obituary for ALICE JENKIN

 

Alice Mae Erickson Jenkin, 103, of Butte died Saturday, April 12 in Missoula. She was born in Silver Bow on Sept. 29, 1904, to Eric and Helga Erickson.

She grew up on the family’s dairy farm and attended school in the little one room school at Silver Bow. She graduated from Butte High School and attended the Butte Business College.

She worked for several years before marrying Tom A. Jenkin Feb. 9, 1931, in Anaconda. They had three children, Marjorie, Tom and Sharon, who died in infancy.

Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Charles Crookshanks of Missoula; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carilyn Jenkin of Whitehall; grandchildren, Coy Laine of Missoula, Lisa and Mike Carter of Missoula, Amy Crookshanks of McCall, Idaho, Julie and John Todd of Germany and Tomas Lee Jenkin of Belgrade.

Great-grandchildren include Zach Laine of Missoula, Beau Wurster of Eugene, Ore., Rosie Wurster of Tucson, Ariz., Amanda and Ethan Johns of Germany and Nathan Jenkin of Belgrade.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; four sisters, Sadie Erickson, Mabel Erickson, Helen Hulse and Elsie Bennett; and four brothers, Roy, Carl, Walter and Ralph Erickson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Butte or Partners Hospice in Missoula.
