Haylee Curry belted a solo home run, hit a double and had three RBI's Thursday to lead Belgrade to a conference rout in Lewistown.

Curry finished 2 for 3 from the plate, and made a nifty grab in right field, as the Panthers routed Fergus County 10-0 in five innings.

It was the second meeting in less than a week between the teams, and Belgrade needed a seven-run sixth inning to rally for a 9-5 victory May 4. But the Panthers scored five runs in the first inning Thursday and cruised from there.

“The game on Saturday was senior night. That was a lot of emotions. We had girls crying right before they played and that’s hard to say goodbye to your hometown field,” Belgrade coach Andrea Folkman said. “Today we didn’t we didn’t have that. They we focused.”

Erin Elgas tossed a 3-hitter en route to improving to 11-0 in the circle, while Kenna Thomas and Maddisen Tomasetti each had three hits. Thomas also smacked a double.

“They were swinging at those first pitch strikes,” noted Folkman. “We had two girls bat 3 for 4 and Haylee batted 2 for 3.”

Belgrade (15-0, 6-0) extended its win streak to 34 and completed the conference slate unbeaten for a fifth consecutive season.

“I commend the girls for doing that. That’s a team effort. Not one person can do that on their own,” said Folkman. “That takes talent, takes work in the off-season and takes being there mentally and showing up for games.”

The Panthers wrap up the regular season Saturday with games against Stevensville and Frenchtown in Butte.

“The girls are excited to play. Things are clicking,” said Folkman. “It’s just a matter of making sure that we are there offensively and defensively in the same game, and we’re climbing that ladder. With each practice and each game, we’re peaking at the right time.”
