The Gallatin Valley Outlaws continued their hot play over the weekend by winning the Harold Gjerde Memorial Tournament in Lewistown.

The Outlaws finished 4-0 in pool play to earn the No. 1 seed out of the White Division, and then beat Lewistown, 4-2, in the championship game Sunday evening.

“I was really happy with how we played,” longtime Gallatin Valley coach Duwayne Scott said. “Our pitchers really pitched well. Every arm we used pitched good this weekend. We played defense — we didn’t have very many errors in five games, so I thought that was good as well.”

The Outlaws began the tournament with a 16-3 victory against Glasgow on Thursday. Caleb Kamerman earned the victory on the mound, while Hunter Johnson, Michael Nehring and Isaac Richardson each hit doubles, and Michael Jones added a triple.

On Friday, Gallatin Valley shut out Tri-County 9-0. Nehring tossed a complete game 3-hitter, while Gabriel Delgatty led the offense by going 3 for 3 at the plate. Brady Jones and Richardson added doubles.

The Outlaws routed Havre 14-1 on Friday, tallying 13 hits in the process. Michael Jones scattered five hits on the mound, while Richardson finished 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles at the plate.

Gallatin Valley built an early 3-0 lead en route to beating Miles City 7-3 Saturday morning, and then held off a late rally to beat Lewistown. Kyle Grevious and Delgatty each had a double in the finale.

“I thought our sophomores, Bo Hays on the mound and Gabe Delgatty on the mound (played well). Gabe and Isaac Richardson had really good weekend’s at the plate,” said Scott. “Obviously our seniors played well, but I thought if it wasn’t for Isaac Richardson and Gabe Delgatty and Bo Hays, those younger kids, it’s hard to say how the weekend would have went.”

The Outlaws were scheduled to host Anaconda in a Southern A doubleheader Tuesday, but the A’s have forfeited the contests due to a lack of players. Gallatin Valley (15-9, 5-1), which is riding a 9-game win streak, returns to action this weekend at a tournament in Rapid City, S.D.

“Pitchers are starting to get into a groove and I like where we’re at right now going forward,” said Scott.
