Combs Competes

Three Forks junior Macee Combs competes in a first round match Friday at the Southeast B/C Divisional tournament in Belgrade.

Three Forks’ girls tennis team wrapped up their season after failing to advance a player to state at the Southeastern B-C Divisional over the weekend in Belgrade.

Mackenzie Feddes came close for the Wolves in singles. The junior bounced back from a first round loss to win a pair of matches in the loser-out portion of the tournament, but finished one victory shy of reaching state.

Macie Jensen and Aubree Waldbillig also came up one victory shy of reaching state in doubles for Three Forks.

Broadwater County won its 14th consecutive team championship after finishing with 58 points. Jefferson County, Whitehall and Three Forks rounded out the teams with 25, 21, and five points, respectively.

Earning berths to state in singles were Broadwater’s Amanda Bergstad and Megan Saltzman, and Whitehall’s Britney Welker. Broadwater also qualified a pair of doubles teams in Taylor Noyes/Leia Schritz and Becca Larsen/Maddy Buchanan, while Laurynn Armstrong and Kylie Marks advanced for Jefferson.

The top four singles players and the top three doubles teams advance to the state Class B-C tournament, which will be held in Bozeman May 16-18.
