Through eight minutes of play Friday morning Belgrade was within striking distance in a loser-out game at the Eastern AA Divisional. But Billings Senior began the second quarter with 10 consecutive points to break the game open.
Led by a game-high 20 points from Lauren Cummings, the Broncs built an 18-point halftime lead en route to a 61-37 victory at Great Falls High School. Senior advanced to another loser-out game Saturday morning, while Belgrade’s season came to an end.
“Just had a hard time finding the bottom of the net today,” Panthers head coach Erin Nolte said. “Senior just came out ready and we didn't have an answer.”
Belgrade shot just 19% from the field in the first half and 26.1% by game’s end. Seniors Olivia Wegner and Abbie Morin each scored a team-high 12 points, and Morin buried three 3-pointers.
